2 | Beautiful deserted beaches in Sardinia
Cala Brandinchi: Sardia Beach deserted in September, just in front of the island of Tavolara
Have it beach for yourselfWho wouldn’t have such a wild dream? If you visit Sardinia in September or even early JuneYour dream could become a reality.
When most people are back behind their desk, you will enjoy miles of white sand and turquoise water in paradise. Many beaches in Sardinia are almost deserted in mid-SeptemberEven the most popular and most touristy.
It happened to me more than once, both in June and September, and it is such an surreal experience: I went to Chia beachLocated on the southwest coast of the island, and I could finally enjoy this huge beautiful beach for myself.
ADVICE: If you want to try the experience, avoid going to the beach on weekends, because the locals always go there to break their weekly work routine.
Not only will you find deserted beaches, but also deserted roadsWhich is such a relief and a massive bonus for your nerves! During the high season, it could take a few hours to reach the most popular destinations and even more on the way back to your hotel if you do not stay near the beach *
* This is valid for all the large tourist beaches all Sardinia, but even more for tourists and inhabitants who have their base in Cagliari and the surrounding villages and who want to spend a day Chia, Teeredda beach, or Villasimius / Costa Rei Beach.
3 | Hosting and cheap hotels in Sardinia
What about spending half the price for a place like this?
This is a valid declaration for all tourist destinations, the “low season” still means lower accommodation prices. Sardinia can be bloody, especially in July / August (The average cost of a small villa or an apartment is around 700/1000 euros per week), but during the September (And if you want to risk a little more, October) Prices drop, sometimes even 50%.
This is even more true if you do not choose a very touristy area (which I highly recommend, because there are incredible places that still do not deserve your full attention).
What are these less touristy places? Some examples are the Carloforte,, OristanoAnd Pool zones. They are incredibly beautiful and rich in culture with a good atmosphere. I went there and I can’t recommend them enough. If you don’t like to discover new areas, no problem, tourist areas can also be cheap if you know when to reserve your accommodation.
You will find below some links to agencies / websites that I personally used to find accommodation For my many mini-raptures around the island. Each year, my family and I decide to discover a different part of Sardinia, and we generally rent a small villa / apartment (called “Villetta” by the inhabitants) near the sea.
In this way, we can also save money by preparing our own meals and going to the beach on foot or by bicycle. If you want to know more, read my article on Sardinia Holidays for families with children
