I don’t know about you, but when I travel, I don’t like to cook. Instead, I like to explore the destination through its food scene. And although Jasper is not at the top of the graphics as a gastronomic city, there are many good restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are enough so that we have never used our kitchen at Jasper house bungalows For something other than storing wine and snacks during our stay.
Before our trip to the Canadian Rockies, we wondered where to eat in Jasper, so, as usual, we did the search to know where to eat in Jasper National Park and we wanted to share the results with you to help you make your decisions and plan a little more easily. If you visit during the high season, I recommend that you make reservations for dinner in advance because there are many large groups in the city that fill the restaurants.
Also keep in mind that the prices of food and drinks are high (even with the favorable exchange rate with the US dollar.) We have also experienced many restaurants in the short term and the service was slow. You could see how hard the servers worked, but they just had too many tables to manage. So try to make patience and give you a lot of time when you eat outside.

Coco Coffee

This coffee offers only a few tiny tables pressed in its small space, but you can always eat out or have breakfast to go if it is too crowded. The price is just the right amount of crunch to call on the crowd of hikers or hipster, but enough fatty spoon to satisfy those who want a generous breakfast.
We divided a smoothie and I had the breakfast of scrambled eggs, with eggs, house fruits, toasts and sausages – enough to soak my lunch. Hannah had the Huevos Rancheros Wrap, which was like a breakfast burrito, and we had to save the second half for another day.

Waffle Hut

The Waffle Hut in Maligne Lake is the ideal place to have breakfast or lunch before spending time at the lake during the summer or before taking a boat trip to Spirit Island. There is a selection of sweet and savory waffles, more coffee and tea. You can even get waffles and ice cream. We tried both the strawberry and blueberry waffles options and they were decadesly delicious!

Maligne Wilderness Kitchen

Maligne Wilderness Kitchen is located near bridge 1 in Maligne Canyon. This restaurant has an elegant design using many natural materials that attract you and make you want to stay for a while. We ate on the patio, which also has patio radiators when it is cool. Inside, there is a large stone chimney, so I can see it quite comfortable in winter too.
Food offers local ingredients with high -end comforting foods. Hannah appreciated the effiloche pork sandwich and the fries, and I went to get the grated chicken sandwich with a side of cheese macaroni. If you go, be sure to try the side of the cheese macaroni. It is rich enough to be a whole meal.

Household

Our original plan was to have lunch in Lake House in Maligne Lake, then dinner in Maligne Wilderness Kitchen. However, our waffles of the Waffle Hut filled us so much that we changed our plan and had lunch at the Maligne Wilderness Kitchen, then we went to Jasper for dinner instead.
But, if you are hungry by more than one waffle during your stay in Maligne Lake, the Lake House is owned and operated by the same company as the Waffle Hut and Maligne Wilderness Kitchen, so I expect the food to be good enough. The view of the terrace overlooking the lake is also magnificent, especially on a beautiful day.

Jasper Food Tours Peak Nic

Our favorite lunch was our “peak nic” with Jasper gastronomic touches. I wrote on this experience in detail when I talked about things to do in Jasper, but it was a highlight of travel! It consisted of a hike and a cooking lesson in the hinterland. (Note: Our experience was organized by Jasper Food Tours. All opinions are mine.)
Our lunch with a view of the rocky mountains included dal, rice, chili, bannock (fried bread) and the cellar. It was such a fun experience and a delicious meal (win-win!)
Where to dine in Jasper
Tekarra restaurant

Our dinner in Tekarra was my favorite culinary experience in Jasper. The kitchen was surprising given the setting, but the restaurant of this rustic appearance lodge was quite impressive and a good gastronomic option. The wooden interior and soft lighting would also make a good romantic dinner.
I had the short coasts of the Bison, which were braised in the bays of Saskatoon, the molasses and the grass tomato, served with potatoes. It was delicious – so sweet and tender. Hannah tried beet and goat salad, but was always hungry, so we shared the chocolate pie for the desert.

Earls Kitchen + Bar

We first eaten at Earls Kitchen + Bar when we were in Victoria during our cruise in Alaska and I did not know that it was a chain until I obtained it in Jasper. Our initial plan was to have dinner during our first night at the Jasper Brewing Company, but we then saw the duration of the line and started looking for another option. When Hannah saw Earls, she remembered how much she loved food in Victoria and asked to go.
She really enjoyed her butter chicken and her rice. My meal was also good and the service was good compared to its slow in other dinners in the city (especially at Authentic Burger, the service was so horribly slow that I can’t even put it on this list.)

Some others that came recommended, but we did not have the opportunity to try to include the Raven Bistro, a Mediterranean restaurant, and the bar and the grill of’d, for the time of a room. Of course, if you want a more formal frame or a tea in the afternoon, you need to consult the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
