As imposing as the tights are, the National Park is sometimes overshadowed by its largest neighbor in the North, Yellowstone. In fact, there is so much to do in Yellowstone that sometimes people do not even go to Grand Teton National Park – But that’s a mistake.
Even if you only have one day to spend in the Grand Teton National Park, don’t worry, you can always see the strengths. If you are wondering what to do with tights, do not miss these best sites and attractions Grand Teton.
Tips for visiting the Grand Teton National Park
Tall titon
Before sharing what to do in the Grand Teton National Park, let me give some advice on the visit
Be sure to start very early because you will be most likely to see a fauna and get a place in the parking lots by popular hiking trails
In high season, expect the Jenny Lake parking lot to be full within 10 a.m. (we got there just before 10 a.m. and we got one of the last available places)
Get the bear spray if you are heading on one of the quietest trails – it is better to warn than sorry (consult these others Tips for hiking with children))
Make sure to stop at the reception center to buff your passport of national parks and discover the Ranger programs for this day
Bring a bottle of rechargeable water. The Park Service is kind enough to offer cold water coolers at the beginning of popular trails like point inspiration to fill your bottle and encourage you to stay hydrated
If you are looking for a less crowded route to Jackson Lake or north to Yellowstone, head to the 191 motorway until the entrance to Moran Junction
If you have not reserved a park park in advance, you can find more availability in the neighboring city of Jackson.
What to do in the tits
Lake Jenny
Lake Jenny
Lake Jenny is one of the most popular attractions in the Grand Teton National Park, as evidenced by the crowd. But it’s always worth a long visit. First put it on your list of things to do in Grand Teton so that you can get a parking space in the field in the reception center.
You have some options to take advantage of this area. You can hike on the circle of six miles around the lake, or take the ferry On the other side of the lake to save time and energy (you can always go back 2.5 miles back.)
The reservations are not required for the boat ferry Jenny Lake, but you may need to align yourself and wait for your turn because they run every 10 to 15 minutes throughout the day. If you are going to take the ferry in both directions, it is logical to decide in advance and buy the cheaper round trip.
Even if you are looking forward to hiking, I would recommend taking the ferry in at least one direction because the views of the water are spectacular.
2. Inspiration
Jenny Lake Inspiration Point
From the boat quay, a path will lead you to an altitude of 450 feet with a round trip of 2.2 miles at the point of inspiration. The trail crosses Canyon Creek Cascade, but the track is clearly marked to continue upwards until inspiration.
Along the way, you will pass a short side path that leads to hidden falls. Some of them were closed during our visit, so we could not have the full view of the falls.
You will also spend some superb views, some with very aggressive squirrels on the ground. But continue if you want to reach the point of inspiration.
The last section has a loose rock on the track with a fairly steep edge, it is therefore not for the low hearts – or for small children unless they are in a carrier or kept by hand. Push at the top if you can because the views are worth it.
Before achieving Signal Mountain Lodge, turn right on a five -mile and winding road to the top of the Mountain signal for a spectacular panoramic view through the bottom of the valley.
You can imagine the valley full of wild animals and we could not prevent ourselves from looking in the distance with our binoculars looking for something that moves.
Three -quarters of the path to the top, also stop at the Jackson Point Overlook for beautiful views of the mountains. Watch out for the pain of transport at the top and going down!
4. Mam by Jackson Lake
Just before arriving at Jackson Lake Junction, you will go to the Lac Jackson dam. Stop on the south side for photos because there is not a good place to succeed once you pass above the dam.
I didn’t think it would be something special but after changing, we would have liked us to stop.
5. Lake Jackson
If I had to stay in the park, I would like to stay at the Jackson Lake Lodge. Floor windows on the lodge ceiling offer breathtaking views of the lake and mountains.
They also say that you can see the moose, bears and other wild animals just outside the lodge. You can do the boat on Lake Jackson, but with Mountain Lodge signal (where we have had lunch), you can also rent boards in Pagaie and Kayaks.
6. Oxbow bend
Oxbow BendOn the connector between Jackson Lake Junction and Moran Junction, there is a picturesque river flows where you can find moose, Wapitis, Eagles, Herons and more (including mosquitoes.)
Traveling from west to east, you may not think it is worth stopping unless you are there at dawn or twilight for a vision of fauna. However, when you approach the East, you can see why you should stop just for the photo opportunity.
7. Flats of Ranch Elk
When you travel along the 191 motorway, you will see fenced ranches. Around the region by Elk Ranch Flats Turnout, just north of Triangle X Ranch, do not be surprised to see a herd of bison. If you have not yet gone to Yellowstone and it is your first view, it will certainly be a pleasure from the crowd.
Just be careful. The fence did not look electrified and it would be easy for these bison to pass through if they wanted it. When you cross these fields, also keep your eyes open for Pronghorn being among the grass.
8. Overlook of the Snake river
Overlook from the Snake river Maybe a quick stop, but a valid to see how the Snake river cuts through the earth and earns its appropriate name.
9. Schwabacher landing
One of the most famous views of the Teton range is to Schwabacher landing. Even if you can’t do it for dawn or twilight when you will probably find moose, reflecting the mountains in the water is breathtaking and the postcard (or the vacation card).
Take the time to enjoy the landscape, but bring the insect spray (and the spray to the bears – it can be pleasant and calm there.)
10. The Glaciers participation rate
If you are really lucky, you can stop at the Glacier’s participation rate just like the moon makes an appearance between the peaks. Otherwise, you will get at least a magnificent view of the nipples and the glacier.
We were sad, we did not have the chance to stop and see the old buildings along Mormon Row that you see so often photographed, but I know that there is still a lot to do in the Grand Teton National Park and I can’t wait to return.
Where to eat in Jackson Hole
If you do not stay in the Grand Teton National Park, you will find many options in Jackson Hole nearby, Wyoming. This small town immediately charmed us, with its famous wooden arches and its authentic west city mixture with a high -end ski town.
Downtown, you can take a carriage ride, saddle to the bar Cowboy bar at a million dollars (literally like bar stools are stools, keep in mind that if you are Visit Jackson Hole with childrenThey are not allowed inside), consult the pretty stores and galleries, or fill your belly and one of the city’s restaurants.
Hatch Taqueria and Tequilas
My first stop on my search for the best restaurants in Jackson Wy was Trapwhich offers fresh and modern Mexican cuisine. They offer interior and exterior seats in a fun and relaxed setting. The service was a bit strange – but the food was good. I couldn’t decide the tacos to get, so I tried a few. These are small authentic tortillas with modern ingredients. My favorites were Tinga chicken and smoked chest tacos.
120 West Broadway, Jackson Hole, Wy, (307) -203-2780
The food was really interesting and varied. If you like spicy, turkey rolls of turkey had a real kick. Our other favorites were the Pho and the burger of the kitchen. But leave room for dessert because the chocolate chip cookie pan was absolutely incredible. For something lighter, try the mango passion sorbet.
