11 Best things to do in Rhode Island in the fall

Fall is the prettiest season in New England and one of the best moments to discover the natural beauty of Rhode Island, local farms and seasonal events. The trees are beautiful, the air is clear and the smell of Woodsmoke is in the air. The red, yellow and orange leaves float in your face and crackle under your feet. The apples are crisp and juicy, picked directly from the tree and you can indulge in apple cider donuts and everything related to pumpkin spices.

If you are looking for ways to take advantage of the season, these are our choices for the best things to do in Rhode Island in the fall.

Apple

The apple picking season arrives early in Rhode Island, so go out before the orchards are all selected by the middle at the end of September. If you can visit during the week, you may be able to avoid the crowd, but make sure you always check the hours first and the dates when the choice apples are available. And if you miss the apple picking, you can always buy apples and apple related products from farm stands.

I have drawn up a list of the best apple orchards of Rhode Island and some of our family favorites include:

  • Jaswell farm At the 50 Swan Road in Smithfield (USA Today recently appointed Jaswell’s one of the 10 best apple orchards in the United States)
  • new York At 207 Arnold Street to neighbor Wrentham, my

Visit a pumpkin patch

Pumpkin patch at Phantom Farms in Cumberland, Rhode Island

Half of the pleasure of making a jack-o-latern is to choose the pumpkin of the pumpkin patch. Many rhode Island farms do everything to create a perfect fall experience, hay walks for farm animals, family craft trucks. This is also where you can fill up with other fall decorations such as mothers, hay, gourdes and corn stalks.

We have a list of the best pumpkin patches of Rhode Island, but here are some of my favorites:

  • Phantom Farm in Cumberland – Every weekend, they organize different activities and we appreciate the stand of the farm, the outdoor sugar hut, the jute canvas labyrinth and the hay taking through the orchard.
  • Adam’s farm In Cumberland, has really exploded in recent years with pumpkins, hayrides, farm animals, a labyrinth of hay, a labyrinth of corn, corn hole games and a tire playground, in addition to the farm. In addition, the way to the farm along the tank is magnificent during this time of year!
  • Confreda Farms In the hope, it is always animated by hay walks, a labyrinth of corn, children’s walks, a catering area and even a haunted Grenouard.

Some include:

  • Clark Farms in Wakefield
  • Morris Farms in Warwick

Eat apple cider donuts

For years, I was looking for the best apple cider donuts in Rhode Island and I finally found them at Hard Prested Cider Company in Jamestown. It is worth queuing to do them when they are hot and crisp, but if you can stop during the week they are open, you can avoid waiting time. While you are there, also try the apple cider slushes! I would say that they are even better than BF Clyde in Mystic, CT.

As a finalist, I also like apple cider donuts to Jaswell’s Farm.

Combine history with frightening vibrations on a Ghost visit of Providence. We recently tour with US Ghost Adventures and learned the ghost of Edgar Allan Poe, characters from HP Lovecraft Stories, a Brown university building which was once a military hospital, and even a fear of vampires in Providence in the 1600s. This visit on foot from College Hill can give you chicken flesh.
