Each destination has its own unique foods. This is why I firmly believe in traveling through my stomach. Some destinations have more to offer than others and I have recently been surprised by the number of interesting foods in the north of the Eats Trail in the west of New York. So if you are looking for the most famous Buffalo foods, be sure to try these local favorites.
Of course, everyone knows the wings of Buffalo … After all, they were invented at the Achor bar in Buffalo, New York. But have you heard of Red Hots? And Sponge Candy? Did you know that Buffalo has his own style of pizza? Trying these classic Buffalo foods is one of the fun things to do in Queen’s city.
But don’t think the wings and dogs are all that Buffalo has to offer. With a strong community of immigrants, Buffalo Also houses a wide selection of Burmese, Ethiopian, Banglades and Cambodian restaurants. There are also gourmet restaurants (and literal gin joints), 35 breweries and dozens of catering trucks that serve everything, from Putin to Pisroni.

Best food in Buffalo
So let’s go in Buffalo’s famous foods and where to find!
Buffalo wings

The Buffalo wing has become one of America’s favorite foods and everyone at the place where it thinks that the chicken wings are the best. For me, it’s the Spring Street Cafe from Chuck to Princeton, New Jersey. Over the years, the places have shone in the original pungent sauce of the Buffalo wing to include parmesan with garlic, the chipotle barbecue, the Teriyaki and the flavors that burn your tongue to those sugary and sticky.
If you visit Buffalo, you will probably want to make a pilgrimage to Anchoring barThe origin of the Buffalo wing. The original bar has been extended to be a tourist destination, as you can see by the Swag store and the hundreds of license plates on the walls. Order the original medium if you like the classic flavor (although there are a dozen other flavors that you can try.) I will be honest, it is not the best I have ever had.
If you want to compare and contrast, follow the Buffalo Wing Trail And include stops with the famous wings of Duff and Blackthorn Restaurant & Pub. Also ask some residents their favorites! Do not be surprised if everyone gives you a different answer from the district where they grew up. One thing on which they all agree is that the dining room of the Anchor bar is mainly for tourists these days.
Red Hots

Of course, the hot dogs are famous in many places, we even have our own version here in Rhode Island, but they are really one thing in the Buffalo region. You will find “HOTS” restaurants throughout the Upstate Eats trail. There are 250 years of collective history from Hot-Dogs to Buffalo with the manufacturers of Francfurter Sahlen and Wardynski. These buffalo dogs, or red hots, are generally toasted charcoal giving them a tasty flavor of flavor.
You can order a regular hot red, or opt for the famous long foot. Garnish with your choice of condiments or opt for “works”, which generally includes pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard and a sort of spicy flavor or spicy sauce.
One of the most loved places to grasp a dog is Ted Hot Dogs. Now there are eight TED locations in the west of New York (and even a Tempe, Az!), Each rejecting the hot dogs as quickly as chipotle folds burritos. Ted uses Sahlen dogs but adds his own spicy spicy sauce to the mixture and he just gives him the right kick to make Ted dogs special. We tried the TED’s in downtown Buffalo and I also give a boost to their onion and fries.
If ordinary hot dogs seem too pedestrians, try one of the high-end dogs of Franc. Started like a food truck by two brothers, this brick and mortar restaurant serves handcrafted hot dogs such as Banh Mi dogs, dogs covered with kraut and even vegetarian dogs with unique garnishes such as tomato jam, marinated vegetables, a blueberry barbecue sauce, soft potato pepper and sauce with Tijuana.
Buffalo style pizza

With a location between Chicago and New York, is it surprising that Buffalo also developed its own mixture of unique pizza? With a thinner crust than the deep chicago style dish and thicker than New York’s thin crust, the buffalo style pizza is its own race. The sauce is sweet and tangy, the cheese is abundant and sticky, and the crust, although not intended for folding, is not too pasty either.
But this additional special touch is the thick pepperoni which curls up and darkens when cooked. The most popular places to take a slice of buffalo style pizza Bocce Club Pizza And The NovaAlthough there are many places to try in town.
Weck beef

Sandwiches with roast beef are not unusual either, but again, Buffalo does his thing to do a clean food. In Buffalo, an ox on WECK presents roast beef carved by hand, equipped in a juice, garnished with fresh horseradish (no sauce with a creamy horseradish), and served on a Kimmelweck bread.
Never heard on a kimmelweck bun? I didn’t have it either, but it is a roller that is slightly in kimoweck or carvi and kosher salt crust. I’m not a fan of Carvi’s seeds, but I always loved the salty, spicy and juicy mixture of a beef on Weck Sandwich.
You can find beef on Weck in the Western New York restaurants, but there are in the Buffalo region which are particularly famous for its sandwiches. I would recommend Charlie Le BoucherWho also has delicious crisp and savory fries, but you may also want to try the Schwabl or the Eckl.
Fry

The Friday Night Fish Fry is popular in Midwest and Northeast, especially during Lent. Many pubs and restaurants will serve as Haddock or Cod beaten by beer with fries, a cabbage salad, a macaroni salad and a tartare sauce. If you are looking to change the flavor of your classic fish and fries, try the fish and fries at the curry of Grislynn In downtown Buffalo. This Gin Bar is specialized in craft cocktails and small plates starring the flavors of India, Spain, France and England.
For a more traditional fish, try Gene McCarthy’s, a first neighborhood tradition since 1963. They use the coolest fish and serve Giant 14 Oz. Portions, although you can always go half there if you are not hungry.
Loganberry drink

A Loganberry is a cross between a blackberry and a red raspberry, created in the late 1800s by a Californian. This dark and non -carbon red drink was made famous in the Crystal Beach themed park near Buffalo and is popular in West New York and southern Ontario for decades. Today you can find Loganberry drinks at the Soda fountains around Buffalo, including in Ted Hot-Dogs.
The drink is super sweet and slightly syrupy, so it is probably an acquired taste if you do not grow in summer in summer.
Eponge candy

Sponge Candy is another of these essential foods in Buffalo, found in candy shops in the region, including Parkside candies, Antoinette’s candies, Oliver candies, Althea chocolates, and more. Many of these stores also offer other handmade chocolates and sometimes even have an ice cream store.
My waiting for sponge was that it was much more, well, spongy, so it is actually. The sponge candies are crisp and ventilated covered with milk or dark chocolate. It is made from caramelized sugar, which is turned in a skunk of light and airy butter and by hand or machine in chocolate. Served in squares of an inch, the sponges gandins each use different secret recipes to add their special touch.
Personally, I am not a big fan, but the buffaloes like enough to celebrate the national day of the sponge candies on September 21 of each year.
Ice

Each city has its own popular ice cream spots, old -fashioned old -fashioned stores with classic cremes by the roadside. In Buffalo, there are stands to put your route. At Antononette’s Sweets, in addition to Sponge Candy, they serve as freshly made and small ice cream with homemade trim. The whipped cream at the soft house is transported in pastry bags and added to 20 different garnish options.
I am a big fan of custard and frozen, so I’m partial in NewComer offers Churn. Opened in 2017 and adjacent to Floyd Taco Factory (also a popular place for tasty and creative tacos like the chicken and waffle taco “Dirty South”), the unsubscribe serves custard with a delicious combination of garnishes. They have created special offers like the short strawberry cone, which is lined with strawberries, Lavendar shortbread and lemon zest, and has a taste like a popsicle of strawberries but better!
You will want to bring your appetite when visiting Buffalo! But don’t worry, there are many other things to do in Buffalo to work on these calories. Did you plan a girl’s trip there? Consult my guide.
