“Indiana Jones and the Minded House”: survive an insect apocalypse in Thailand

Sunsets on magnificent beaches, perfect green tan, cute children with beautiful smiles and dreamy images of exotic temples …

This is what most of my photos document from my Asian trip: Paradise on earth.

To prove my point … Here is a video of the first 4 months on the road.

From 4 months toโ€ฆ more than 4 years on the road and count! I always receive the chills by looking at him ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course! Who would like to see the photo of the plastic bottles and garbage, floating in the sea at Koh Tao, or my disorderly face as soon as I wake up in the morning?

You see, traveling to me that most people have no idea of โ€‹โ€‹this Life in Asia is like. I mean, you see incredible photos and you automatically think that everything is perfect and that I live in a kind of dream world. I think it’s a bit like “False advertisements”.

I always think that my trip is absolutely incredible and is worth it throughout, but that does not mean that I am not confronted with “technical” problems here ๐Ÿ™‚

In this article, I will show you some of the facts “behind the scenes” on my life in Thailand. In this way, if you ever decide to take off as I did, you won’t want to show yourself only the good side of traveling to underdeveloped countries.

Lateral remark:

Even if I seem to complain about the following points, rest assured that I secretly love each part of this crazy life!

What is a real adventure without the difficult / frightening part after all? It would look very much like your medium vacation in August at the beach house of your grandmother, not exactly what I call an exciting scenario ๐Ÿ™‚ So let’s start with the beautiful meetings with my new horrible animals / insects for pets.

Bridget / Indiana Jones in action!

“Animal party”: what I had to endure in just a month living in Thailand

Huge cockroaches sharing my bathroom

IMG_2439

I have an appropriate phobia for cockroaches, and at first I couldn’t help but shout and run everywhere like crazy when I spotted one. After a while, I made a single, a fact: I had 2 choices: leave the house or get used to it.

They clearly indicated that they were not those who were ready to leave my beautiful toilets crouched. What I do now is just splashing them with a little water to avoid too much proximity ๐Ÿ™‚ They seem to like a small shower from time to time. They even come back from time to time to take advantage of my business and use my beauty creams (yes, I found a sneak in a bottle of moisturizer!)

The cockroaches are in vain too, you know.

Huge scorpions crawling on my legs

Scorpion in my house

Yes, this cute “little” Scorpion decided to visit us to add excitement to a boring Saturday evening at home.

“Sgorby the Scorpion” As I renamed it, I left the house for itself once, then I decided that it was quite comfortable to make another visit. This time, he was “kindly” shown the door and I guess he is now too unhappy for our rudeness to happen again.

And I really hope that it will remain so for a very long time. Sorry my friend, it was a hell of fear honestly! Especially after My (now ex) boyfriend told me that in previous months, he found Sgorby’s brother under his pillowโ€ฆ. I would be dead with horror!

Update:

It turned out that Sgorby was not so impressed by our gross ways and decided not only to come back, but to bring a friend with him. Both thought that crawling my legs when I was asleep was such a fun idea. After the initial shock, I managed to survive. Phewww.

Huge / poisonous? And vain spiders

Here he is … my adorable friend Spider Gonzales. He showed up the same boring Saturday evening when Sgorby decided to visit us. Obviously, the gossip of our boring night spread in the village quite quickly and the huge spider could not be excluded from the party, right?!

To be perfectly honest, I have already met this fur friend in the bathroom the previous night. I lit the light and he was there, standing on the mirror doubled his bad reflection. As if he was not already scary enough by being himself! We have discovered that cockroaches and spiders are quite vain here in Thailand.

The task of getting rid of him was fluid. Some well -placed cries, and he was very offended and left the crime scene (for now!)

Geckos who died on the wall

GOOD It’s a sad story because I really like geckosI think they are very cute (unless they have the dimension of a crocodile like the one I saw in Koh Pangnan). We found this one sticky on the wall with his hand in a high-food position.

I did not immediately realize that he was dead. It was too high on the wall to see it clearly, but what you see on the image is just the skin of the formerly alive gecko.

I noticed that it was a little swollen and I started to analyze it from behind. My boyfriend thinks that he must have been brutally murdered by the Gonzales of Spider. We are still collecting evidence to set up a decent case.

My poor gecko courageously tried to appear decent even after his death. He kept his pretty outfit, and staying on the wall, proudly avoided being eaten by evil ants. But the courageous little reptile could not keep its exquisite appearance for too long. It now collapses slowly. At the beginning, he lost his tail, and now he is finally resting in peace on the ground, while waiting for decent funerals in my trash can.

Ahhh the joy of the trip!

These are my most important meetings since I moved to the distant village of Map Ammarit in Thailand.

However, they are not the only ones. How can I forget the Cricket that jumped on my face While I was sleeping peacefully, the many CAntipeds flowing marathons on my soil, or The butterfly on which I work accidentally with my naked foot? (If raw).

These are the obstacles I try (literally) every day and every day. Sometimes when I visit the toilet in the darkness I feel a lot like Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones and the cursed temple”.

Remember this scene where he had to go through a narrow and dark path full of all kinds of disgusting insects?! Well, I remember this scene very well. It shocked me and I thought I would never have survived such a disgusting experience. But here I am, always alive, facing my dark and narrow personal path. Avoid spiders, butterflies, centrals, cockroaches and scorpions.

Do you want to join the party? ๐Ÿ˜‰
