The Amalfi Coast is a destination for the list of buckets for many, just up there with the Cinque Terre or Greek islands worthy of Instagram. However, many people flock to the picturesque city of Positano very trotting or join the jet crowd on Capri. And those who do not know how to visit the city of Amalfia too foldable and tourist and wonder what they lack.
But if you have done your research and you wonder if Visit Ravello is worth it … Do not hesitate to plan at least one day excursion in this magnificent city located on the cliffs above Amalfi. Of course, it’s a little more difficult to reach, but it’s worth it.
Is Ravello worth visiting? Yes, and here are 5 reasons why

Escape the crowd
Wherever you go to the Amalfi coast, you are surrounded by beauty. Unfortunately, you are often also surrounded by crowds. Not so in Ravello. In Ravello, you find not only some of the most beautiful views in the world, but the lack of crowds (even in summer) was a delicious surprise. If you are wondering what to do in Ravello – it’s about enjoying beauty and soaking it. Beauty in views, gardens, people and food.
Take advantage of views and gardens at Villa Cimbrone

There are two major attractions in Ravello, the gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. The city is pedestrian only so that you are deposited just outside one of the city doors. From there, it is only a few minutes walk from Villa Rufolo and perhaps a 10-minute walk from Villa Cimbrone. I would recommend starting at Villa Cimbrone, then going back through the city from there. The route is easily marked with panels throughout the city of the two attractions.
Cimbronous villa is both a hotel and a restaurant, as well as a very popular wedding place. However, it is best known for its breathtaking gardens and views. The gardens are open to the public with entry fees of ten euros per person. There are many paths through the gardens, but you will want to go straight to the famous Infinity terrace. No need to save the best for the end!

The Infinity Terrace is aptly named, while the views are still extending and on, above the mist that covers the coast below. From there, you can see the terraced fields below, the ships of the port and the Côte Amalfitaine curve.
We were amazed that we were able to spend at least 10 minutes taking pictures of the terrace from all angles, while meeting only two other people.

After enjoying the terrace as much as possible, you can also stop in the tea room under the terrace and enjoy a cold beer on the lawn overlooking the mountains.

It only takes 30 minutes to cross the gardens, but I would give you at least an hour or two because it is not necessary to precipitate your pleasure of such a beautiful place.

Lunch at Villa Maria
After leaving Villa Cimbrone and started going back to town, you will spend Villa Maria. Villa Maria is a small hotel and restaurant with a magnificent outdoor terrace offering a breathtaking view. The restaurant has its own organic vegetable garden, which they harvest daily to appear on the menu.

If you want more than a delicious meal with a view, you can also organize a cooking class here. Just know that the pizza slices are large thick slices of a slicician style paste. I appreciated the toasted cheese in lemon leaves with fresh grilled vegetables, which was delicious and also a generous portion.
Soak up gardens and music at Villa Rufolo

After a delicious meal, you will enjoy the return of the city Villa Rufolo. If you visit with younger children, you may want to jump the Villa Rufolo and simply focus on Villa Cimbrone. The gardens and terrain of Villa Rufolo are not as vast as those of Villa Cimbrone. However, he can use history lovers who wish to explore the ruins in ruins of the villa.

The main attraction of Villa Rufolo is what makes Ravello famous, the Ravello festival Music. Imagine sitting down and enjoying a music evening while drinking in these views of the Mediterranean.

People look at city square
Before leaving town, spend a little time enjoying the city square and nearby stores. Piazza is the place where the inhabitants gather. The older couples sitting on the benches in the shade, while young children embark on a football ball on the square.

Piazza offers beautiful views of the mountain and the sea. Just on the other side of the square, you will find the Ravello cathedral. Ravello cathedral was built in the 11th century in a combination of baroque and Roman styles. This is worth a quick visit, even if it is only for an overview of the bronze door.

There are also many quality stores offering locally manufactured ceramics, linen clothes, handbags and more. I would recommend the printed bags in canvas of the Zahir di Micol Schiavo, which are a unique memory to remember your visit.

I hope you can enjoy Ravello’s beauty!
How to get to Ravello

There are several ways to go to Ravello. If you stay on the Amalfi coast and rent a car, you can still drive. Of course, I think you have to be a little crazy to drive on the Amalfi coast and parking is not an easy task. Those who stay on the continent can also take the bus. Keep in mind that buses are overcrowded and can often stand up only room. I do not know for you, but I would not want to stand while tightening along these narrow roads, the edge of the cliff a few centimeters from the side of the road.
The last alternative is to take a ferry for Amalfi, then take a taxi, a bus or even a hike, to Ravello from there. Keep in mind that ferries often jump on the coast. So you can find a direct ferry or not (so be sure to go down to the good port.) When you stand at the pier, you can see at the back of the boat where the boat is heading and the time of departure.
A amalfi taxi lasts about 25 minutes. It’s not cheap, but in my mind, it was worth it for more comfortable driving. Even if you decide to get off from Ravello, you need a very energetic and fit visitor to climb Amalfi to Ravello. Taxis are available in Amalfi’s port area, just in front of the pier.
When you want to come back from Ravello to Amalfi, get out of the city door near Villa Rufolo and you will find a taxi stand. If you catch a ferry, be sure to give you a lot of time because they control traffic on the road from Amalfi to Ravello and in sections, keep traffic to allow one direction at a time. This can add additional time to your trip.
