Where to eat at Rehoboth Beach Delaware (beyond the walk!)

Large seaside cities do not always mean good food, but it is encouraging when you find the exceptions. In Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, we found enough tasty options to make us want to visit again and again. And while seafood, funnel cake and frozen custard can all be expected in a seaside town in Boardwalk, I did not expect to find the best Asada carne that I ever had or Kaiserschmarrn in Austrian style.

But I found this and more, so I had to share my recommendations on the place where to eat in Rehoboth Beach and in the neighboring cities of southern Delaware.

Fractured Plum Donuts

We first tried Fractured plum’s Hot Cake Donuts Down in Ocean City, Maryland, and they were so good that we had to look for them in Rehoboth Beach. When you enter their outpost right next to the coastal road, you are welcomed with a list of more than 20 built-in flavors, including the possibility of making yours from a selection of frosting, garnishes and sugars.

Each donut is soaked by hand and leaves the hot and dripping piping of sweetness. In the interest of research, we tried several flavors – it was difficult work. I think my favorite is always rolo with caramel frosting and chocolate mini-morceaux… .mmm, mmm, everything is fine.

The Delights of Kaisy

The pink signs of The Delights of Kaisy I attracted my attention, but it was after a follower on Instagram told me about their incredible pastries that we stopped in one morning. I’m glad we did it. The enthusiastic owner impatiently told us the story of the Austrian dish of Kaiserschmarnn (German for “imperial mess”), which has a little taste of a French toast in a bowl … but better.

You can become sweet or salty, with homemade marmalade options, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate, sausage or bacon or sides. My recommendation is to go and go there often, but unless you are hungry … Get a size for children! The little one was more than we could eat.

We loved so much that when we went to Vienna later, we had to look for it in some of the famous cafes and cafes in Vienna. I also tried a version of the German Christmas markets last year.

Where to eat brunch or lunch

Nectar Cafe

We fell in love with the soft and shabby decor of Nectar Cafe In Lewes nearby, Delaware, but even more, we fell in love with food. This coffee and juice bar offers healthy and homemade food that you may feel good. Hannah loved her grilled cheese with Havarti, Gouda and Cheddar and one side of the tomato soup, and my lawyer and my poached egg on multi-joke toast were perfect healthy lunch after a morning kayak.

I am always a big fan of juice and morning bars after, with lemon, ginger, apple, spinach, kale and pineapple was delicious and energizing.

The Nectar Cafe is located at 111 Neils Alley in Lewes, Delaware and 226 Main Street in Millsboro, opposite ancient Alley.

Best restaurants for lunch or dinner

Mariachis

If you get tired of seafood and walk treats, remove the promenade and the main band from MariachisAn authentic Mexican restaurant just opposite the shopping district of Penny Lane. As it was a few steps from the Atlantic cycles, he had a perfect lunch after our morning bicycle ride in the Henlopen Cape State Park.

The charming owner Yolanda recommended the Asada carne, and I always liked to try the specialties of the house. She did not go badly. The steak was so soft in butter and tender and imbued with flavor – certainly the best Asada carne that I had. I had promised to divide it with Hannah’s chemchanga, which was as well, but I definitely jostled more than my share.

Chesapeake and Maine

Our intention was to walk in brewing and eat relaxed Dogfish heads, but we accidentally fell into his sister restaurant next door. The highest range Chesapeake and Maine Focus on the seafood of … you guessed it … the bay of Chesapeake and the Maine … reflecting the history of the foundation of the Brasserie de chief of Dogfish. The interior reflects these roots with nautical keys beautifully designed as the chandelier of the oyster shell.

Taking advantage of the menu of the restaurant week that was available during our stay, Hannah started with the Lobster bisque, with the unusual accompaniment of a white chocolate gelatin, a hint of hat for Dogfish Head’s shock lobster. She followed this with the Risotto with a beautifully presented and tasty lobster basil with tomatoes and asparagus. My mind was always put on advertising food, so I went for crab cakes, but Hannah definitely chose the dish of the evening.

Salt

Another high -end restoration option in Rehoboth Beach is Saltwhich focuses on the fresh and local ingredients. High -end Salt Air, but still family, offers a children’s menu with real food – to the relief of parents everywhere.

They also have some of the best fried shrimp. If you do not want to go with more fried dishes, there are also lighter options such as the chopped salad with salty air, puffed shishito peppers, crab eggs and Cambodian grilled street corn.

House ale ale and raw bar

If you want Chesapeake crabs, go to House ale ale and raw bar And try their delicious crab cakes. This seafood restaurant satisfies all your desires for bar, crustaceans and raw fish. You can also visit their locations in Berlin, Maryland or Bethany Beach.

Tordus hammock

Hammock brasserie In Lewes, Delaware is the perfect meeting place for families and others. This restaurant offers a large bar and booming ceilings with a fun sensation and similar to the beach. The exterior is a slightly smaller bar menu, but this is where the pleasure occurs.

There is a playground, a ping-pong, a corn hole, picnic tables and, of course, a number of relaxing hammocks. Inside, the menu goes beyond advertising food for seafood, steak, salads and sandwiches. I could not refuse a BLT soft shell crab and it did not disappoint and the beers either. The beer menu still changes, so try a few, but I enjoyed the sun, mousse beer.

Blue Crab from Bethany

In Bethany Beach, we entered the home and adapted to the family Blue crab Expect an average experience of beach seafood, but we left with our belly full of delicious dishes. Before we even could decide what we wanted, a bowl of homemade fries and dip was placed on the table, starting us to set off the faces even if we were not even hungry yet because we were in early reserve to beat the crowd.

As I wanted something light, I envisaged oysters from their oyster bar next to it. I am generally not a fan of grilled oysters, but the owner Tim Haley convinced me that their grill delivered the best around – and he was right. They were tender, sweet and just a little smoked with a bite of cheese on top, not at all soft.

Hannah tried the sautéed blue crab, with blue crab in pieces and shrimps sautéed in butter. I think we could both have divided this dish and always gone! Tim has also set us up with an order from their fried chicken from Delaware. I liked the fried chicken but the last time I had it over 10 years ago, I found it so greasy and strongly breaded. Not with blue crab. The dough was very light and super crisp, while the chicken below was wet and tender without being fatty. We really wanted us to have a way to bring the leftovers home.

If you are looking for a catch and go eating in your beach house when you don’t want to cook, stop in Big Fish Grill Market. They offer specialties such as soft shell crabs, crab cakes, nevas potatoes and cream spinach, as well as meals and family packages.
