At the time, tourists had to lug around the guides and phrase books while resembling idiots by looking at stretch cards and wandering aimlessly to find their path or a decent place to eat. Although it can be easy to choose tourists, at least you don’t have to transport all this equipment. Now, everything you need is a smartphone and these Rome applications (and maybe an additional battery.)
Even if you turn off your voice and your itinerant data while the seas, your smartphone can always be practical for more than just camera when you travel. I have a number of mobile applications that I recommend during the international trip, but here some specific Rome applications to download before going on a trip.
Make sure to download these Rome applications
Google Cards
I used to always download local metro and cards applications when I traveled internationally, but recently I found it Google Cards works very well. In addition to driving and walking instructions, public transport options are perfect and can be useful to let you know which platform to take, how many stops to go, etc.
There are times when I prefer Apple cards for walking directions because they can be a little more descriptive. The key is to download cards to use offline if you plan to leave your phone in plane mode or turn off your itinerant data.
Google Translation
As widespread as English is in a modern city like Rome, it is always useful to have Google Translation in your back pocket. This is useful in scanning menus and panels using the camera function and overcoming linguistic barriers with the inhabitants using the microphone. Just make sure to download the Italian dictionary before leaving so that it is available offline and remember that the translation is not perfect!
Learn Italian
Learn Italian is an application of Italian sentences. There are many on the App Store and the one you go with it, make sure you choose one that works offline and you download the content before leaving (if necessary.) I like to have an application of sentences because it is easier to quickly search for words and current sentences according to different parameters (restaurant, hotel, medical, greetings, etc.) in this way, the few words you need to be review two.
For language learning before travel, I use Italian Duolingo And I am on a sequence of more than 2 years!

Rick Steve Audio Europe
I am a big fan of Rick Steve podcasts and guides and his Rick Steve Audio Europe The application offers guided tours of popular attractions in Rome such as the Colosseum, the Forum, the Jewish ghetto, the Pantheon, the St. Peter’s and the Sistine Chapel, Trastevere and the heart of Rome. So, if you don’t want to hire a tourist guide, it may be the next best thing.
Long -lived
THE Livtours application From one of my favorite travel companies offers an overview (with a card) to some of the popular or more out of the Rome path. You can find attractions or stores, filter through points of interest and learn the story of each attraction.
The real WOW factor is with their virtual reality features, which can only be unlocked when you are on one of their tours.
Free now
Although you can use Uber in Rome, it will cost you more because only Uber Black is available. If you prefer to take a taxi, you usually have to find a local taxi position or ask the restaurant to call one for you. Now consumers have a little more control and you can call a taxi using Free now. You must download the application and create an account (so maybe you prefer to pay the Uber premium to simplify.)
This application can also help you locate and rent e-scooters. Another application that I use to configure airport transfers is Welcome picture.

The fork
If you use openable in the United States, you can also try it in Rome, but you could find more options on its sister platform, The fork. You can read the reviews, sort by price, type or neighborhood and reserve reservations online.
If you like gastronomy, you can also download the Michelin guide Application to find and sometimes book Michelin Star restaurants.
Italian menu decoder
Italy is probably one of the easiest countries to travel because most of us know the menu enough. However, sometimes if you want to avoid food like guts or simply understand what something is to order, download the Italian menu decoder. One day, I will have to tell you how an application like this would have saved a lot of embarrassment to my husband in France! This application provides an alphabetical index of food and their descriptions so that you can decide whether this is really what you want to eat or not.
ACA WAIDY WOW
Rome has public water fountains throughout the city, so instead of buying water bottles, you can bring a rechargeable bottle and this application can help you find where to fill it. The digital card on ACA WAIDY WOW Includes the location of 3,000 public fountains. Other applications include I Nasoni di Roma and Fountains in Italy.
WC Rome
There may not be many free public toilets in Rome, but to find them, you can use the WC Rome App. There are also other applications such as the application of Flush and Whizier toilets.
