Rome can become brutally hot in summer and after a day in vision of the Colosseum and the Roman forum under the flamboyant sun, there is nothing better than retiring in a cool hotel to swim. But finding hotels with pools in Rome is not easy. People often ask hotels in Rome with a swimming pool and do not realize that they will have to pay a bonus because, in Rome, space is a luxury.
Fortunately, there are even Rome hotels with swimming pools that offer day passes! Here are five of my favorite hotels in Rome with swimming pools, which are great when visiting Rome with children.

Aldrovandi Villa Borghese

I stayed at Aldrovandi Villa Borghese And fell in love. It is slightly outside the heart of the historic district on the other side of the Borghes gardens. I do not see this place as a drawback because it takes place in a more residential area just opposite the park and far from the tourist crowds.
A peaceful and peaceful 20 -minute walk brings you to the top of the Spanish steps and in the heart of the action (or you could take a free shuttle.) In the Borghes gardens, you will find playgrounds, boats, bike rentals and even a zoo.

Everything in the hotel is comfortable elegance. The type of hotel where you enter and automatically your shoulders are relaxing, but you don’t have the impression that it is so fanciful that you cannot walk unless you are dressed to impress.
The rooms are classic Roman style without being too decorated. Large bathrooms and high ceilings give an impression of space difficult to find in a Roman hotel. It also seems very Italian, not just another American brand. In addition, the Aldrovandi has one of my breakfasts at the favorite hotel (anyone’s champagne?)
But the real hidden jewel is the relaxing courtyard and the shaded pool of Aldrovandi. It is surprisingly large for a town hall swimming pool and is served by an outdoor coffee. There is not a ton of loungers, you may want to take an early one or hope the best at the end of a hot day. For hotels with swimming pools in Rome – Aldrovandi is my favorite!
Note: From this update in 2024, Aldrovandi is currently closed for renovation.
Gran Melia Rome

THE Hotel Gran MeliĆ” is part of a Spanish chain and is located on the Vatican side of the river, just five minutes walk from St. Peter’s. It is located at Villa Agigripina and mixes the architecture of the Old World with a very elegant and modern design. I also stayed here and I loved public spaces. The rooms are smaller and have their quirks – such as high -tech lighting and heating systems and glass walls / windows between the room and the bathroom.

However, certain suites will adapt to small families, and others are equipped with everything that needs families with young children. But the swimming pool is absolutely charming with a grassy space around it so that children run – so difficult to find in the city!
The Gran Melia spa would also be an excellent heat retirement (simply not for children.) It is perfect for families visiting the Vatican and it is not a walk far through the Tiber to sites like the Pantheon, Campo Dei Fiori or Piazza Navona.
Rome Cavalieri

THE Rome CavAieri is a Waldorf Astoria property and is the best for people who want to be outside of Rome’s bustle. It is located on a hill overlooking the city, about 10 to 20 minutes from taxi to most main attractions. But what he has to offer are large tentacular lawns, a seasonal children’s club, a 3 -star Michelin restaurant and fun activities such as gladiator lessons on grass.

The other thing to note is that the decor is very baroque, you will therefore see a lot of brass and ornate lights. This style is not for everyone and contrasts with contemporary Gran Melia. He is also enormous and welcomes many travelers and business conferences, which makes him lose a little of the authentic sensation.

However, the swimming pools are simply magnificent. They have a large outdoor swimming pool and a beautiful indoor swimming pool that is part of the spa. I also think that it is perfect for those looking for only two nights in Rome before flying or flying in Italy and taking a taxi to dinner or visit. Ideal for someone who has already been in Rome and prioritizes the swimming pool and the outdoor space.
CARO DEI Principle Grand Hotel & Spa
This brand first appeared on my radar because of its Sorrento property and I was happy to learn another hotel in Rome with a swimming pool. Also located outside the Borghes gardens, on the one hand different from the Aldrovandi, the CARO DEI Principri is classic, Italian of the old world.
Lots of gold and brocade which can sometimes feel dated but which are simply traditional. The 25 -meter heated swimming pool is lush and large, even if it does not have a ton of character. Open from May until September, the swimming pool is also open to non -hetero guests for costs, and customers should also reserve a price that includes the swimming pool. Keep in mind that they sometimes close the swimming pool for private events, and it can be disappointing!
Boscolo Exedra Roma
This autograph hotel (a Marriott brand) has a “cool swimming pool”. You know, the genre that is not so much for swimming but a little more a place to see and be seen. The roof pool of Boscolo Exedra Roma is shallow but can still cool after a day in the sun. Keep in mind that this can also be closed from time to time for private events. However, the views are pretty and it is very instagrammable.
I do not like the location because there are not many restaurants and shops in the immediate neighborhood, but it is close to the station if you continue in Florence, etc.
The thing to keep in mind when choosing a hotel in Rome with a swimming pool is that there will always be compromises and that several times it is the location against the swimming pool. Although it is so fun to be in the center of everything, being in the middle of Rome when it is 100 degrees and the heat is reflected on the buildings and the sidewalk, you would like you to choose a hotel in Rome with a swimming pool.
