All-terrain in the north of New Hampshire with Bear Rock Adventures

By driving north of New Hampshire, I continued to see panels to “share the road with mountain biking” and my first thought was: “We have to get closer”. Hannah and I head towards Pittsburg, New Hampshire, spitting practically from a distance to the Canadian border, for our next mother-daughter adventure. Our destination was Bear Rock Adventures and our goal was to try all-terrain in the New Hampshire on the new Polaris Rzr side by side. I did not know at the time, but the New Hampshire mountain bike paths extend over more than 1,000 miles and we still had a way to go to reach our destination.

When Bear Rock Adventures invited us to pass an off -road test, I was a game. Glenn and I had tried mountain bikes in Iceland, which I found a little difficult to drive on damaged terrain. However, all those I know who have become boguated off the road have loved it. And my acolyte as an adventure researcher is always ready for something new. So we were there, going down to the big woods in the north of New Hampshire to discover the mountain bike paths.

Adventures of the rock bear

Note: We were hosted by Bear Rock Adventures for the purpose of this review. All opinions are mine.

Launched in 2013 by Corrine Rober, Bear Rock Adventures offers mountain biking and rentals side by side for families and thrill seekers. Bear Rock has teamed up with Polaris to provide customers with vehicles fully equipped with two and four places, deceived with GPS, Bluetooth and even location technology if you need a rescue.

Adventures of the rock bear

With more than 1,000 miles of interconnected trails as part of the “Go into the savageTrail System, the New Hampshire is one of the best places in the country for all-terrain lovers. Bear Rock allows those who are new in sport to try it. With organized trails, families can follow the GPS or go with a guide. About four hours ago to finish.

Our day on the picturesque sugar track

Bear Rock Adventures off -road

We left brilliant and early to beat the warmth of noon and our path led us to the river and through the woods – or roughly. The first part of the path was flat and even, more like an earthcate than what you might consider off road. We blocked in the music of our choice with Bluetooth integration and appreciated the panoramic views of the river and the grassy valley. It was almost difficult to believe that just on the other side of the river was Canada, but the wrong data of data on my phone told me that it was true.

But it is normal to get off the grid for a while – especially when you talk about family trips. What can a better connection create than an adventure side by side without the distraction of social media, texts and emails?

After about 45 minutes, we crossed the Vermont and crossed the small town of Canaan. This is where I was happy to have a guide. Although it is great to have the GPS, it could be difficult to find correct turns without vocal guidance and rotating instructions (which would be difficult on a mountain bike path!)

Surprisingly, these small cities allow mountain biking to share the roads, but it also brings tourist dollars to communities in difficulty. Of course, the entire trail system depends on individual landowners allowing access to their property. It is important to stay on the trails and follow the panels displayed regarding speed and noise. You know what they say about a bad apple that spoils the group, and if a person falls because they are fed up with the way visitors treat the trails, the entire system of trails collapses.

Once in Vermont, our path has become a little more adventurous. We climbed Rocky Hills and splashed very large puddles (my favorite part!) On our way to April maple. During this part of the ride, I was very happy to be in the Polaris Rzr compared to a standard mountain bike.

Polaris Rzr – Easy handling and incessant maneuver

When I was driving mountain biking to Iceland, I became so nervous about it, I go back or stockings up or down steep hills or rocky land. The polaris Rzr side by side drives much more like a car and the thing seems indestructible. Instead of worrying about the quantity of gas to be given, automatic transmission and power steering of the RZR (with a steering wheel) made driving much more natural.

In addition, with safety belts and rolling bars, I felt safe even if something should happen. A better choice for families! And if we were not on tour and that God prohibits us that we have lost or injured ourselves, the point location service can send a distress call for helicopter rescue, but it is an expensive option to be used as a last resort.

Of course, Bear Rock Adventures ensures that you are equipped with an emergency kit, and you have room for personal storage and coolers on the back.

Maple Sugarhouse of April

April maple syrup

After two hours of leave, I was more than ready for a break and The April maple is the ideal place. Located in the northeast kingdom of Vermont, the 800 acres of land on which the Sugarhouse is today has been in the family for generations before the departure of April from Wall Street to start the April maple.

Make sure you check the opening days and hours, but the April maple is more than a simple sugar house, they also have coffee with sandwiches, sliders, salads and maple cremeds (maple greenhouse cream.)

There is also a retail store where you can taste the maple syrup and fill up on goodies like maple sugar candies, the maple of maple pancakes and the crunchy maple. I strongly suggest that the bread pudding with maple donut – the only way to make this goodness dish would be to burn it in the chocolate (as it is, a little maple syrup on the top is damn good.)

The long journey to the house

One thing I learned is that all-terrain beginners should probably start with a rental of one or two hours and explore trails near the headquarters of Bear Rock in Pittsburg. Because once you arrive at the April maple, there is no shortcut on the way back.

The return trip is two hours and you can break it with a stop at Beaver Brook Falls on the way. It is nice to get down and stretch your legs and enjoy the view. Of course, if you are in a hurry, you can pass it in front of the 30 to 40 typical MPH that I recorded, especially on the dishes directly (but of course follow the displayed speed limits.)

Where to stay – Lopstick Lodge

Bear Rock Adventures offers glamping, campsite and other accommodation. However, we stayed at Lopstick Lodge, just 10 minutes from Bear Rock Adventures, overlooking the first Lac du Connecticut.

Lopstick lodge is the perfect attachment base for families who seek to spend a few off -road days and enjoy the big woods of the North. They offer cabins with one, two or three bedrooms depending on families of all sizes.

Lopstick Lodge New Hampshire

This area is ideal for fly fishing for salmon and trout in the Connecticut river, the observation of birds by lakes and even the observation of the moose in the aqueous meadow of the moose or the “Moose street” nearby.

If you go, be sure to dinner at Rainbow grille Located at Tall Timber Lodge. Sitting next to a lake with beautiful views, the lodge -shaped atmosphere focuses on meat and seafood, including Bison, Wapiti, Venison, Duck, Steak and Fish. Hannah even tried the venison for the first time here!
