For more than thirty years, my parents-in-law spent a month on the magnificent island of Capri, Italy. Over time, they got to know traders, hoteliers and restaurateurs, and many have become close personal friends. Obviously, during this time of time, they also developed the best restaurants in Capri.
Over the past 10 years, we have also joined them several times for a few days in Capri, before or after the departure of Rome, Positano, Ravello or Orvieto. We tend to come back again and again to our former favorites, but on each trip, we also managed to try something new to assemble this guide to know where to eat in Capri.

Best restaurants in Capri
Since we always stay in Capri, I have no recommendations for Anacapri – maybe it will be a mission for our next trip!
Villa Verde
You cannot spend time in Capri without at least a meal at Villa Verde in the city of Capri. When you enter, you will notice the wall of celebrity images (see if you can find the not celebrity photos of Ellen and Arnold Gruber). One of the nights we eaten at Villa Verde, Magic Johnson also ate with his wife. Magic is a fan of Capri and you will frequently see his megayacht in the port. Earlier in the week, we saw him walk in the city with Samuel L. Jackson.

When you go to Villa Verde, you will want to sit in the vast garden. The dedicated staff worked here for years, you are therefore assured of first -rate service, a service that sometimes goes back to generations. Everything here is fresh and “from their garden”, but there are some specialties that you will want to try. First of all, fried zucchini flowers are among the best I have ever had.
Another dish that you only have to order at Villa Verde is pasta e Fagioli. It’s more like a pasta dish than a soup, and it’s absolutely delicious. But you do not just order it for the taste, you will also appreciate the theatrical presentation – but I do not want to ruin the surprise, but the song will hold you in your head every time you hear the words of Fagioli paste.
I was also completely blown away by the Milanese calf. I generally do not order a calf, but when I had a bite of my parents-in-law, I just couldn’t stop stealing their plates. It is incredibly tender with a clear broom outside. For dessert, try wild strawberry pie. You will see these tiny wild strawberries in everything Capri and if you like strawberries, you should get them … each … single … time.
Villa Verde is located in Via Sella Orta, 6, Capri
Terrazza Brunella

Terrazza Brunella at the Villa Brunella hotel offers one of the most spectacular views of Capri and one of the most delicious meals. I am here for lunch several times and it is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Capri. It is also a perfect place for dinner with a magnificent view of the sunset at Marina Piccola.
All pasta dishes are incredible, just like the lemon risotto, but my favorite is the scialatillo atmm atmm with eggplant, cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella.

Terrazza Brunella / Agave is located in Via Tragara, 24, not far from the point of view of Faraglioni Rocks.
Da Paolino Lemon

It’s a bit of a hike to go to Da Paolino from the city of Capri, but it’s worth the price of the cabin. You will be seated in a lightened lemon cushion with sparkling lights and the sound of water fountains flowing in the background. Beware of these lemons because they are as tall as a grapefruit, so you wouldn’t want you to come across your head.
As you can imagine, everything is here on the theme of lemon. Lemon pasta with a branzino in salt crust with lemon with grilled mozzarella in lemon leaves – and everything is delicious.
You will start with an abundant antipasti buffet with grilled vegetables, seafood, cheese, olives and more than you could eat for your whole dinner. I fell in love with the zucchini went scapèce – the slightly sautéed zucchini finished with vinegar and mint. It was so good that I had to recreate it with fresh zucchini from my garden last summer.
As generous as the games are, you will want to save space for dessert. The dessert buffet takes place in its own climate controlled room. Imagine, a room full of desserts! And of course, Paolino will not let you leave without a sample of their own lemoncello.
Da Paolino Capri is located in Via Palazzo a mare, 11, telephone +39 081 8376102
Ristorant Faraglioni

Appointed according to the famous rocks of Faraglioni, Ai Faraglioni has been a favorite of my parents-in-law for many years. Instead of being stuck inside, in Faraglioni, you can eat outside at a table borders the popular via Camerelle, nestled in your little private stand while looking at tourists.
They are well known for their lemon risotto and seafood, including sea urchin and crab. All their fish inlaid with salt are delicious, especially the branzino. My stepfather is a fan of the chief’s egg specialty.
Ristorant Faraglioni is located in Via Camerelle, 75, Such. +39 081 8370320
Dawn

Aurora is a bit hidden, with sidewalk tables along a pedestrian gateway, but it is worth it even if it has no view. The restaurant is popular with celebrities and claims the glory of being the oldest restaurant in Capri.
They present everything, from light grilled pizzas to local specialties such as grilled cheese (no, not the sandwich!) We had a good lunch here and I could not stop eating my risotto with shrimp.
Dawn is located in Via Fuorlovado, 18, 80073 Capri Na, Italy
Buonocore Gelateria

If you walk in the city during the day, you will inevitably feel the appetizing aroma of the freshly cooked waffle cones in Buonocore. As you can imagine, the thing to get here is Gelato – in a cone. It can be messy to eat, but it is delicious.
Buonocore Gelateria is located in Via Vittorio Emanuele 35,, Corsair
Granita lemon stand

If you walk through Tragara to the point of view of Rock Faraglioni (see also my advice for hiking to a natural arc in Capri), you will probably hear singing. The joyful song comes from the little lemon granita standing near the way to the beach.
You will want to stop and taste the freezing Cold Lemon Granita, which is so refreshing on a hot day and the service could not be more pleasant.
Bonus: La Scalinatella

The reason why this is a bonus, even if I think it can have the best food on the island, is that the restaurant of the La Scalminatellala hotel is only open for lunch and only for customers of the Morgano – La Scalminatella, Casa Morgano and the Grand Hotel Quisisana.
If you are lucky enough to stay in one of these hotels, you have to go. My parents-in-law has stayed at the Scalinatella for years and we have stayed there and also next to Casa Morgano (Scalinatella is strictly reserved for adults, but Casa Morgano accepts children.)
Lunch here will not be a quick deal, but you enjoy, so relax and sit for the ride. There is no fixed menu and the server lists the dishes of the day for you. I recommend starting with one of their incredible fishing bellinis and nibble on their light and crispy Fritti zucchini while you are waiting.
The pasta is delicious but you really want to taste their fresh seafood. Everything is fresh and offered in abundance. I had a crab the size of my head and the spaghetti vongolus has enough delicate little clams to feed an army.
La Scalinatella hotel is located in Via Tragara, 8, tel. +39 081 8370633
